This event is a great weekend for both players and their families and the Caledonian Junior Hockey Club has been there since the beginning. It is as a result of the tournament that Arran has been able to etablish its own junior hockey club.
The tournament is based in Brodick so there is no need to take transport on to the island unless you want to. The emphasis is very much on a fun weekend for all the family and the age groups for competition are U10's, U12's and U14',s
The majority of families travel on the Friday evening and the programme is as follows:-
SATURDAY
10.00 Meet at the pavilion
10.15 Coaching session for those who travelled on Friday evening and the Arran club
13.00 Lunch
13.45 Mixed team round robin competition (possibly U14's v Parents !!)
16.00 Freetime
19:30 Family Celidh and Auction in the Brodick Hall
(Bring your own refreshments + a glass)
23.00 Good Night!
SUNDAY
10.30 Sand castle building competition and treasure hunt (Meet at the Pitch & Put)
11.45 Meet at the pavilion
12.00 Arran Invitational Tournament (U10's, U12's & U14's)
15.15 Prize giving
16.00 Departure
16.40 Ferry home
There is no charge for the weekend as the tournament is self financing through a tuckshop (operated by parents on a rota),an auction at the Celidh and a silent auction held over the weekend. Donations for the auctions are always made very wecome.
You are responsible for booking your own accommodation.
Many of the first players to play in the event are now coaches at the event.
